Stop ignoring the facts.  Google and News feeds send visitors to other web pages on your website.  Your Home Page is like the Front Door on a stately mansion that is hardly ever used.  You should greet your visitors with a well designed entry page, however they are entering.  Make that template for the real way in to your website your first priority in designing.  Indeed you can forget your Home Page, it's a waste of effort.  It only slows down your visitors as they click through to where they really want to go.
