Twitter was hacked last night, and when users went to Twitter.com, they were presented with a message from someone claiming to be the Iranian Cyber Army. TutorialsTips has posted a video on YouTube showing what Twitter looked like as it was compromised.

The message from this so-called Iranian Cyber Army said:

They even left a Gmail address: iRANiAN.CYBER.ARMY@gmail.com

Twitter tweeted on the subject:

Twitter co-founder Biz Stone followed that up with a message on the Twitter blog:

It's really quite amazing how vulnerable Twitter seems to be even as it grows into such a large part of pop culture. We recently discussed some other issues, such as the frequent appearance of the "Fail Whale," and whether or not Twitter is ready for mainstream real-time search. Security problems continue to plague the service as well. Twittercism has some good tips for protecting yourself the next time Twitter gets hacked.
